Fair in Rijswijk - May 2022

It's been over six months since I wrote a blog. It's been a tough couple of months, so I had little time, but especially little motivation, to craft.
But last weekend, after two and a half years, I was finally able to go to a miniatures fair again and if there is anything that will motivates and inspires me, it is that ;)

On Saturday morning I rode along with Jolinda to Rijswijk. I started walking along the outer rows until San arrived at half past eleven and we strolled through all the rows together and enjoyed all the beautiful things we saw.
Below a small impression:

Gordijntjes maken of de deurknopjes beitsen. De kraan bevestigen of gewoon verder met het maken van meubelen om alle potten in te zetten.

Next Thursday Jolinda and I will be going to craft together again and I have enough to choose from ;)
Making curtains or staining the doorknobs. Fixing the faucet or just continue making furniture to store all the pots and jars.

Cottage living room update

I knew I was behind with things but I hadn't realized how much :')
Apperently I'd started writing an update on the cottage in January but never finished that.
So without further ado, this is the progress on the cottage living room from January, mainly pictures ^^

I'd started making a comfy wing back chair back in December before we started working on Christmas miniatures. Once of these days I'll finish it (a)

I made new curtains because the first set I made was 1 cm too short.

I've put the glass stained deer from 'Glaskunst in Miniaturen' and the cute snapdragon Kim (Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo) made me, on display. Doesn't it look cosy? :)

The rod of the wall hanger Jolinda had made me, was made a bit darker to match the living room.

I made a bellows with this tutorial, using cartboard, thin leather and a metal bit I cut from jewelry.

I used the veneer slats from Bibian Angelique Miltkau for skirting boards.

I still had planned to do more furniture for the living room, but I had started to wonder if it wouldn't be too crammeded with more cabinets, a desk and chairs. So I decorated the room with the things I already had and quite liked it already :)

So, I've decided to keep it this way and only add the little decorative and personal items later on. I really like how it has turned out so far! Even though it's not as Weasley boho chic as I imagined at the start. But then, Bianca isn't Molly Weasley, is she? ;)

Next, an update on the bedroom, which I've started working on in February (a)

Another visit to the fair in Rijswijk, so many pretties!

I had a great time at the fair in Rijswijk yesterday :)
For the first time I didn't go on saturday but on sunday. It meant that I couldn't travel with Jolinda in the morning and had to leave at 7 am to catch the train, but instead I got a ride home when she left at 3 pm, for which I - and my feet - were very grateful ;)

Middelburg at 7 am <3

I'd arranged to meet Sandra again, whom I'd met last time at the fair. It was great fun to spend the day together at the fair, though we were a bad influence on each others budget ;)
It wasn't as busy as usual which we both enjoyed since it meant an opportunity to talk with the exhibitors/shop owners and look more thoroughly at some of the miniatures.
Talked with Louise of Gweaneth's Dream and Thea of Minidoor as usual, and we met Christel (from the FB group Actieve Poppenhuisforum as well) and her husband for lunch.

I didn't take any photographs at the fair, but of course I want to show you my precious ^^

I've been wanting to buy ornaments at Bindels for awhile now, but have always been a bit overwhelmed with the amount of shiny things when I stood there. So this time I came prepared, meaning I had a list with everything I wanted ;)

With the ornaments I'll be able to maker the following miniatures (hopefully :P). And I bought two 28 mm clips with smooth jaws, a tube adhesive for jewellery, and bronze aging patina (because there won't be shiny things in the Scottish cottage ^^

Set of two silver candlesticks (kit)
Photo frame
Drawer or cabinet pulls
Christmas Wreath kit

As alway I couldn't pass Jan van den Doel without checking out the lovely fabrics, which means I'll never leave empty handed (a) Those might be used for the cottage as well some day.

At Nalladris I found these kits for Gothic candles (cottages), bats and dragons (we'll see where I put them lol). You can apply jewelry glue to the DIY brass kits, to gain thickness before painting. An then fold the wings with pliers for a realistic effect. It will be a challenge but I like those very fun!

Some things I hadn't listed, but wanted anyway;

  • Floral tape at Omgardens, the only thing for making flowers, which is apparently something I still try to avoid ;)
  • Veneer slats at Bibian Angelique Miltkau (how to, in Dutch), which I thought might be useful in the cottage, perhaps for skirting boards?
  • An ornament at De Poppenkraal, which will be made into a mirror for the cottage entry.
  • Flower planters, I don't remember where I'd found those. Might be at Stella Que Pasa?
  • And a LED strip at Atelier Valkenbos, which I want to hide on the ceiling behind one of the beams, to get more light in the back of the living room.

Last, but certainly not least; this staind-glass window at Glaskunst in Miniaturen.
The photo doesn't do it justice, it's really lovely!

So, I had a marvelous day, and I'm looking forwards to work on the cottage again :)

Fair in Rijswijk - fall edition :)

Today I went to the fair in Rijswijk again, for the fourth time in a row, and I'd had a wonderful time
Again I could get a ride with Jolinda, and we arrived at a quarter past nine. While Jolinda went through the back entrance to join the Minidoor team, I got in through the front of course and had to wait till the fair opened at ten o'clock.

In the train back I discovered that I'd forgotten to take photo's while at the fair, but I guessed that would have been the seen pictures I showed you in earlier blogs about Rijswijk ^^
So, let me just show you the many pretties I bought. I have to make new listings for my Etsy store soon because I'm totally broke lol

My precious xD

For new crochet projects

Very nice embroidery fabric and special needles

Already thinking about Christmas xD

Couldn't resist them. 1 euro each. Will find a purpose.

Never worked with a mold, so ... And more gorgeous fabric.

Christmas fabric and the black for new Halloween cushions?

Finally I can start making flowers (a) and some nice kits.

And last but not least, treasures from Georgia Marfels!

Very hard to choose but I love this Cornish Pixie <3

Besides looking at all those wonderful miniatures at the fair, it is always great to see familiair faces, met new people, either from (web)shops of from FB groups.

Today I enjoyed meeting Wendy, Stefan, Louise, Georgia, Thea, Anja and many more. And it was great getting to know Esther (All 4 dolls) in person after all the FB messages :)

So, I feel like a very happy, exhausted, but grateful person!

More waffles :)

I've just learned to crochet the waffle stitch. It's fun to do and much easier than it looks :) I already showed you the first things I made but they were not done.
Since then I sewed a faux sheet to the bedcover and finished the cushions.

I really should finish the matrasses for the beds (a)

One of the lovely fabrics I bought at the fair in Rijswijk last week. This one is from Jan van den Doel. Bianca now has two cushions for the price of one ;)

Yesterday I tried to make another very tiny cushion with the last of this brown embroidery thread I've been given, but it just wasn't enough. And so I came up with the idea to make a cosy candle holder instead :D

This may be a good way to use every last bit of thread I have. So ... ;)
