Bookends for a little Quidditch fan

Working on the cottage involves a level of decision-making I'm not up to atm during these difficult times.
Fortunately Dolls House Nederland is reposting old tutorials from their magazine on Facebook. One of them caught my eye and inspired me to make this cute bookends pair.  :)

Ten year old Quidditch fan Penny will love these
bookends decorated with Golden Snitches
on a bookshelf above her bed.

I made the Snitches from Fimo polymer clay and beads.

Painted the bookends and the
Snitches twice gave it a finish with
gloss paint. I used metallic gold
acryl paint for the wings.

Perfect fit for the room, right? ;)

A bookcase for the Hogsmeade cottage

In Oktober I'd started on the first piece of furniture for the living room; the bookcase from the first book of Julie Warren, and after a - very long - break I've finished it this weekend.

I'm so very happy with it; can't hardly believe I managed to do the drawers and glass doors ;)

I'd almost finished the base before birthdays
and the holidays and 1:1 painting got in the
way :)

I've used a light oak stain and I'm thinking about polishing it with the beeswax I've bought for the (mini) living room floor. Next: making lots and lots of books :)

Craft of the Month - April

Though I got an idea right away for the monthly challenge at (Dutch) FB group Actieve Poppenhuisforum, I almost thought I wouldn't get it done before the deadline. The last couple of weeks were very busy with my (volunteer)work, so this is actually the first thing I've done since I'd showed you the progress on the roombox.

For April's challenge you had to make something with at least 3 of the following materials:
1. clay
2. plastic (e.g. a cap, packing material)
3. rhinestones
4. buttons
5. paper

Two were optional or could be changed in something else. Paint and glue was free to use.

The clay and paper immediately reminded me of the books I'd made with real snake skin. Maybe another magical book would be nice :)

I'd changed my mind about using the clay though, so rhinestones would by the best alternative to use.

Well, after seeing those it was easy ;) Though I think the cap should be a bit smaller (and neater ^^), I like this new addition.  color: #222222; font-family: "arial" , "tahoma" , "helvetica" , "freesans" , sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px;">I gave it the title "The Healing Powers of Phoenix Flint by Jim Kay".
